Reinhessen

Rheinhessen is the largest of the 13 wine growing regions in Germany.  Situated on the left bank of the Rhine river between Worms and Bingen, this region produces mostly white wines from a variety of grapes, particularly Müller-Thurgau and Sylvaner.  In the past, Rheinhessen was known for its cheap whites ranging from off dry to semi-sweet.  Today, because of younger and more educated growers coming into the region, the wines are increasing in quality.
