One of the most famous wine regions in Germany, the Mosel River and its vineyards snake along from its beginnings in the Vosages to its destination in the Rhine, The vineyards are planted on terraced slopes which makes the rugged terrain somewhat manageable.  They also expose the grapes to ideal sun exposure, as well as retain warmth from the river.  All of the Mosel's great wines come from the Riesling grape.
