Pfalz

Pfalz, also known as Rheinpfalz, is situated in southern Germany and is the country's largest wine region.  Tradtionally, Pfalz wine had been largely as a result of co-operatives, however young, ambitious wine-makers have been flocking to the region. Riesling is the most widely planted grape, however red wine has amounted to nearly 40% of total production in recent years.  Its Pinot Noirs (Spätburgunder) and now even Cabernet Sauvignon are attracting international attention.
