Le Marche

Located in central Italy along the eastern coast, Le Marche is region slowly beginning to realize its potential in quality wine production. With both a continental and a Mediterranean climate, styles of wines can vary tremendously. Like its neighbours to the east, Tuscany and Umbria, Sangiovese grows all over and along with the red grape Montepulciano, depending on the percentages, make of the blends for the DOCs Rosso Conero and Rosso Piceno. The white grape Verdicchio can be rather bland, however when grown in the DOC Castelli di Jesi it can reach heights of distinction.
