Based in Vosne-Romanee, Jean-Yves Bizot took over his family's small domaine nearly a decade ago. Over the years he has severely cut back yields, chaptalisation, and sulphur levels. Bizot ages his wines in 100% new oak with no racking, fining or filtration. Production remains extremely limited, and his wines develop wonderful body with age.

"Subtle wood spice, violets, cassis, plus and warm earth aromas combine to introduce rich, full, complex and mouth coating flavors that possess perfect balance, particularly between the often counterbalancing aspect of power and detail. This is a stunning Echézeaux with everything it needs for a long evolution yet so much mid-palate sap that it will be approachable relatively young. Don't Miss!"
Pinot Noir: Burghound 90-92 pts
"An airy, ripe and pure nose combines subtle spice hints with expressive aromas or red and blue pinot fruit plus violet notes that precede the detailed and precise yet full-bodied flavors that are textured and seductive as they ooze dry extract and lend balance to the otherwise chiseled and palate staining finish. This too should age very well over the medium plus term."

"A classic spicy red and black Vosne style fruit nose precedes the precise and pure medium-bodied flavors underpinned by good tension and moderately firm tannins, all wrapped in an acceptably long finish. This is certainly of fine quality..."

"This is almost a hypothetical blend of the old vines cuvée and the Jachées as it brings to bear the elegance of the latter with the concentration and dry extract of the former, all wrapped in a velvety and mouth coating finish that delivers admirable length and punch. I very much like the underlying sense of tension and energy and this should make for a fine effort with mid-term cellaring, which is to say 6 to 8 years or so. Outstanding!"
Pinot Noir: Burghound 87-90 pts
"A really attractive combination of dark berry fruit and Vosne spice that extends to the more concentrated and delicious middle weight flavors that offer slightly better depth and intensity on the admirably long finish. A quality villages that is worth a look."
Pinot Noir: Burghound 89-92 pts
"Not surprisingly, this is a clear step up in aromatic complexity with beautifully deep black fruit aromas that reflect both spice and earth nuances that can also be found on the rich, full and moderately powerful medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a firm and mouth coating finish that goes on for a good 30+ seconds as it seems to die out and then revives itself. Very solid cellar potential here. Sweet spot Outstanding!"
