Belondrade
Bodega Belondrade, the project of Didier Belondrade, is located east of Rueda in the village of La Seca. Inspired by the potential of the Verdejo variety, he began applying Burgundian vinification and aging practices to old vine Verdejo and the results were astounding. At the beginning, he only produced this Grand Vin, a cuvee of old vine barrel aged Verdejo. Beginning in 1994, he also began producing Verdejo and Tempranillo rosado from younger vines (10-15 years old) on the estate named after his daughters Apolonia and Clarissa. From the first vintage in 1994 until the vintage 2000, Didier was making his wine in a cellar in Nava del Rey. Today, the wines are produced at his own winery Quinta San Diego, named after his son, that was designed by the French architect Vincent Dufos du Rau.
